What is this test?

The rectal swab test is used to detect chlamydia and gonorrhoea infections in the rectum. Unprotected anal sex can lead to these infections getting passed into the rectum and causing problems.

How do I perform the test?

We send you a swab with full instructions. A minor insertion into the rectum is required to collect cells from the rectal wall. The swab test is very easy to use and does not cause any pain or discomfort.

How does this service work?

You order your test online. We then send you the self-collection kit and you follow the simple instructions. You send the sample back to us in the business reply envelope provided. Testing on the standard test takes around 24 hours but you can request a 4 hour service if speed is important.

What if I test positive?

In the event of a positive test result, we will offer to prescribe medication free of charge for next day delivery.
